Caster vs. Ciel
力の流動・転移 - Chikara no Ryuudou/Teni
Movement of energy.
意識の転移 - Ishiki no teni
The specialty of the Einzbern.
Transferring the senses of a person to another object, such as a tree,
to gain information outside of the body. Not suitable for attacking as
disruption of the main body will result in a forced recall of the
separated conscious to the main body. Of course, against someone like
Shirou, Ilya can actually shut off his mind. Also used normally among
those with familiars. Likewise, no matter how much one's consciousness
may be transferred over to a familiar, if the main body dies of old age
or what not, the soul will perish along with it. Can be applied for
remote viewing as well as spirit possession.
転生 - Tensei
The transference of one's soul into another person while obtaining full control of that body, unlike normal consciousness transference into something with a soul where the control of the body is still held by the soul of the host body. Transferring one's soul into another person that possesses parts of the same soul (related by soul DNA, is the best way to put it). Normally has to start from scratch as a baby. Only a few have been successful at using this, and even so, it's not so much as reincarnation as it is the copying and copying of an inferior version of oneself as there's no guarantee that the reincarnated child will be just as capable as the individual.
The ability to transfer one's consciousness completely (as in having complete control) onto a familiar with a soul falls within reincarnation.
A ritual allowing for spiritual possession by one's former incarnation to gain experience and abilities from one's past life. Details unknown. Probably similar to Roa's power. Apparently the reason for Shirou's "level-up"/synchronization with Archer during UBW.
宝石魔術 - Houseki majutsu
The type of thaumaturgy the Tohsaka family is especially skilled at (of course, not the type they are limited to). Allows for the instant use of high thaumaturgy. Jewels accumulate the thoughts of their owners easily and so, the same goes for Prana. Among them, there are those that have slept beneath the surface for years in which nature spirits can develop easily. Hence jewels can act as a simple crest just by the developed alignment of those nature spirits.
Storing Prana will result in that energy being stained by the alignment of that jewel. For instance, a jewel in which a spirit of fire dwells will make that energy-oriented towards ignition. A more specific example would be topaz's best suited applications for anti-spirit tasks (the topaz used in the Fate prologue was laced with a wind spell). Depending on the use, an old jewel that the previous owner had lost could have a stronger effect.
Releasing all of that energy (like a bomb or triggering a bullet) will result in the jewel turning to ash and an effect that matches the jewel. The alignment of the jewel can also be chained for different uses, but the overall effect will decrease. Also, just simply removing the energy and using it as backup energy is possible without destroying the jewel, but again, this is will decrease the optimal effect.
Over 10,000,000 yen per jewel. Rin has 10 of these and ends up using them all up by the end of the game. The amount of energy stored in the ones that Rin used are equivalent to A in rank, with over 10 years worth of accumulated energy. Of course, it would take a direct hit from four of these to kill Berserker once.
Fire.
炎の海 - Honoo no umi
Alba's spell. A blue flame of Prana over 1000 degrees Celsius in heat. Erupts from the floor. Lasts a few seconds.
A visible curse using blood and the practitioner's hatred. The blood burns like ignited gasoline when exposed to air.
発火魔術
More like pyrokinesis. Not burning the target with flame, but causing the target to combust. One word spells using musical notations, probably because she sees combat and thaumaturgy as being like music.
The (only) type of spells that Azaka excels at also. In her case, more
like ESP really. One word spells using musical notations, probably
because she sees combat and thaumaturgy as being like music. They are
as follows:
In essence, the Einzbern traditional thaumaturgy is limited to the alchemic manipulation of matter and creation, and the applications of that (homunculi/grail creation, the aforementioned transference of conscience, etc.). As a result, they generally have very few techniques oriented directly for destruction or killing. This isn't to say that the Einzbern are poor magi; just not oriented for direct combat.
Pretty much where the true specialty of the Einzbern lies. Transmutation.
Irisviel uses this for combat purposes via a two-line incantation spell, passing Prana through silver wire and using it to construct a weapon that can vary shape (from a hawk to handcuffs) according to the user's mind/mental image. Amount of precision in the formation pretty much just says how much the Einzbern are at the pinnacle in alchemy.
統一言語 - Touitsugengo
The Book of the False God.
Not language where the person being spoken to is another person or
object, but language where the object of communication is the world
itself, the plane of existence that we live on; allowing for the
retrieval of "records" from the plane as well as communication of any
concept to another person. As the target of the communication is not a
person but the person that is existing on top of the world, denying
whatever the user of the Unified Language says is the same as denying
one's own existence; think about it in terms of an ontological
hierarchy. In other words, the "words" of the Unified Language allow
for the ultimate form of hypnosis. If I say "you don't see me", then
you really don't see me, for example. Knowing the Unified Language will
allow for resistance of these sort of effects however.
Currently, the only user of the Unified Language is Kurokiri Satsuki (deceased).
Note that this language is different from Divine Words. The Unified Language is quite simply the language that was around before humanity was split and is the equivalent of the great "truth". Consequently, several ranks above Divine Words.
神言 - Shingon
Thaumaturgy from the age of the gods when words themselves carried power, whereas modern incantations are just means of self-hypnosis to work one's circuits. Found in each of the divine eras in history. The following concern the Divine Words from Greek mythology.
光弾雨 - Koudanu
Caster's spell. High thaumaturgy that can be cast instantly with her Divine Words to get basically a series/volley of rapid rank A beams of light. Can be used repeatedly when in Ryuudouji.
圧迫 - Appaku
Freezes the target in place by altering the pressure of the atmosphere. Anchoring a region of space to prevent movement. One of Caster's spells. High thaumaturgy. Pretty much useless against Saber... Breaking free of it is possible through sheer power (Prana), ala Archer.
空間転移 - Kuukan teni
Spatial shift - teleportation. Close to magic. Used by Caster.
盾 - Tate
A shield using the concept of Argos. A Caster spell. Glass-like forcefield that's supposed to be just as tough as Berserker's skin. Shattered just like glass though against Gilgamesh's vault.
病風 - Shippuu
Wind spell. Turned into mincemeat the right part of Shirou's chest like it was sent through an enormous fan. Of course, pretty much useless against Saber.
数紋法
Roa's type of thaumaturgy. A "smart" way at going at thaumaturgy as
opposed to Aoko's "can't do anything but destroy" type of approach.
The Kabbalah Gematria?
スナップ
Single action type projectile attack. Probably lightning related.
セット
Trap-type spell.
スクウェア
Spell amplifier.
ウィッチクラフト
The general name for what witch-like stuff. Curses, medicines, all that stuff; anything that would fall in line with what shamans do; for example, exorcising spirits or using straw dolls to curse others. Kuonji Alice and initially Sajou Ayaka deal with this sort. Needless to say, this kind of stuff is a very strong part of Japan's supernatural world.
記憶操作 - Kioku sousa
Manipulation of the memory to cause the subject to forget a certain event. The absolute minimum that a magi has to perform if witnessed by others. Note: Also used by Rin in one of the bad endings to cause Shirou to forget about Saber and the war.
According to Touko, the effectiveness of this is limited based on the deviations that occur between what the mindwiped party remembers and what the people around him remembers.
共有知覚 - Kyouyuu chikaku
A type of spell that allows perceptive sensations to be shared with a contractor in which a Prana pathline exists. Kotomine learned this via Tokiomi.
Allows monitoring of Servant operations from afar and will have increased effectiveness if the Servant happens to excel in scouting operations such as Assassin. However, this cannot be performed without the approval of the other party.
呪層界 - Jusoukai
The technique Black Sakura uses. A cursed shadow that expands around her. Can be used for teleporting, repairing damage, restraining, consuming, tentacle attacks, and generating shadow giants. Probably similar to a Bounded Barrier if not one actually.
More or less a combination of the imaginary numbers element, Machiri binding and absorbing thaumaturgy, and Angra Mainyu acting through it.
抗魔術 - Koumajutsu
An added effect. Disrupting the workings of circuits to prevent the generation of Prana and usage of spells. Not the Anti-Prana of Servants.
石化魔術 - Sekika majutsu
Possessed only by a few modern magi. Inferior to Rider's eyes of course.
スターマイン、スターボゥ
The name of the thaumaturgy Aozaki Aoko uses.
To her, it's apparently easy to image exploding fireworks and rotating
stars, so the thaumaturgy she's working on with her instant
incantations is going to be nature interference based on the said
images.
Applications of Starmine types are for fluid motion, while Starbow types will be for fluctuating motion.
Aozaki Aoko could be said to be a "melee-type" magus, in that she fires Prana from the ribs which, in the moment it passes through her fist, is ritually completed. To those unfortunate enough to make enemies with her, both arms will look like rocket burners.
The reason why she ended up shifted the focus of her spells for martial arts is probably due to the influence of a certain man she roomed with back in high school....
固有時制御 - Koyuu Jiseigyo
A special type of thaumaturgy Kiritsugu acquired. An imitation of magic.
空気打ち - Kuuki uchi
Forte's specialty.
A spell with a decay effect. Used by Zouken. Or used on Zouken's body. Ate away at Shirou's reinforced rod when he made the mistake of attacking Zouken. Also ate through Shirou's legs when Shirou stepped on some of Zouken's worms while he was running away. Basically, you hit the old guy in any sort of way, and while you might end up destroying his body, you're also going to end up getting a nice feeling on whatever part of the body you struck him with. Good job, Shirou.
方術/法術 - Houjutsu
General name for the systems of spells of Onmyoudou, a variant of the system of elements and yin and yang that came from China. The Japan equivalent of thaumaturgy. This system, however, isn't compatible with Western thaumaturgy ideology. Excels at divination, curses, etc. Most famous Onmyouji is Abe no Seimei. Not covered much yet, but they're there, working behind the scenes.
禁縛の勅 - Kibaku no Mikotonori
Type of restraining spell meant to be used against the non-human.
式神行使 - Shikigami
Historically, Shikigami were the symbols of the incredible powers of
the Onmyouji. Basically a term for the creatures the Onmyouji of Japan
had at their disposal, for example Abe no Seimei and his Juunishoujin.
The character shiki (式) of Shikigami can be used to refer to
formula/equation/system but in this case, it carries the meaning of
"using"; as in "usable" kami. In the Ujishuuimonogatari, Shikigami had
often been scribed as Shikijin (識神). Shikigami are Shikijin and it can
be said that by knowing (識る - using the same character from Shikijin)
secret knowledge, these spiritual entities can be controlled at one's
will.
....would be the basic setting.
The general idea of it in Nasuland is similar to the western familiar. Sharing a part of oneself into a dead animal to rerun it as a lifeform. The idea is shooting a form/system (Shiki1) on to run a one-time curse (yes, curse). The Shikigami will continue to stay as a familiar of its Master once the contract is formed until the user runs out of power (somewhat different than the western familiar, but kind of the same).
Incidentally, bits of the above seemingly non-Nasu filler can be found in Ryougi Shiki's "system". The characters of Shikigami and Shikijin coincide with the female and male personalities of Ryougi Shiki.
柳桐寺結界 - Ryuudouji Kekkai
A barrier that rejects spirits other than natural spirits. A Servant
entering from anywhere other than the main gate would be subjected to
reduced stats. Once inside the barrier, the effects of the barrier are
gone. Probably existed since the temple was first constructed.
奉納殿六十四層
A 10 story apartment building having an irritatingly roundabout structure. Architect is Aozaki Touko.
A shrine of the Taikyokuzu, the diagram of the supreme ultimate. As he
doesn't possess a Reality Marble, he artificially constructed what
could be said to be the the embodiment of his internal landscape.
不倶、金剛、蛇蝎、戴天、頂経、王顕
The name of each of Araya's barriers. Freezes movement. The name of the
entire barrier itself is 六道境界 - Rokudou Kyoukai. Incidentally, rokudou
is a Buddhist/Hindu term for the 6 different worlds: The World of Devas
or Gods; The World of Asuras, Demigods, Titans, Fighting Demons; The
World of Humans; The World of Animals; The World of Hungry Ghosts; The
World of Hell. Sounds more and more like these barriers fall under the
non-Association systems.
金剛訳・粛 - Kongouyaku Shuku
Normally just chanted as Shuku. Name of a spell that Araya uses in Ogawa Mansion. Chant of just word, followed by a clenching of the fists which results in the crushing of a region of space.
Incidentally, even Touko has never heard of a spell that could affect space with processes as brief as Shuku.
胎蔵訳・転 - Taizouyaku Ten
Another Araya spell. What does it do? Who knows.
An area that is way more advanced in curses than the Association. Just like China, a system is conflictive with Association magi.
風除けの加護 - Kazeyoke no Kago
A charm used for protection against jinn/storms. Spell used by True
Assassin. Not actually the true name. True name was smudged out to
******* in game.
Sewing the eyelids together to prevent Prana from escaping the body.
Uses an "ideological system" that is one that is conflictive with Western magi.
The first step to explaining this is to explain the Taikyokuzu. The Taikyokuzu refers to a diagram of the creation of the universe starting from the Taikyoku.
In other words, this:
Basically, this was derived from part of the I Ching, which goes along something like: From the Great Ultimate (Taikyoku) comes the two poles (Ryougi), from the two poles come the four forms (Shishou), from the four forms come the eight trigrams (Yakke). The eight trigrams judge fortune and ruin, and from that comes accomplishment. This is taken to extend beyond just the formation of two sets of 8 trigrams (Rokujuushike) from the Book of Changes, but to be a theoretical representation of the generation of all creation.
Due to the similarities in Daoism's Yin and Yang (Onmyou; activeness and passiveness) this eventually became intertwined with that and so... Ryougi, Shishou, and Taikyoku became fixed to the concepts of Onmyou, the energy of the four seasons, and Genki (the breath of the source), respectively.
Hierarchically, this is interpreted that the source is divided into activity and passiveness, which is further divided into 4 seasons, and from there originates creation.
This later became linked to Lao Zi's 42nd chapter in which:
"Dao procreates one, one procreates two, two procreates three, and three procreates everything".
The Taikyoku then became interpreted as the "one" from the above. Incidentally, Dao (the Way) became placed above the Taikyoku.
From then on, the concept of the Negative Ultimate (which is more or less along the lines of the undifferentiated, and from hereon to be called Mukyoku) from chapter 28 became incorporated as well as the theory of the 5 elements (as pertaining to Onmyou and from hereon to be called Gogyou).
The resulting hierarchical construction became: Mukyoku, Taikyoku, Onmyou, Gogyou, Ken Kon (representations of the two polar opposites found in the Hakke; all connected vs all broken), Danjo (male and female), and creation.
Following that, Neo Confucian elements were incorporated so as to
explain a certain theory, incorporating the concept of Law (Li; pure
Truth that has yet to be divided), as the Taikyoku.
The basic idea of said Zhu Xi idea being that the universe is based on
Law and specific event/phenomena. Using the previous representation,
Taikyoku (Law) causes vital force to change and move, thus resulting in
a division based on the Onmyou Gogyou theory.
Law (taikyoku) preceeding over vital force (Onmyou). Note that, the
included Mukyoku, which had been said to reign over the Taikyoku, was
then taken not as something that preceedes the Taikyoku but describes
the characteristics of the Taikyoku and not as a complete separate
entity. His Taikyoku was the mobile rule maker, the Daoist Mukyoku was
static and unmoving.
But to summarize: 64 possible existential origins derived from 8 hexagrams which are further derived from 4 forms, which come from 2 poles, which come from one great source (and this great source possibly coming from one even greater negative source). At least, from what I understand.
Later representations of the Taikyoku itself would be the popular representation of the Yin and Yang that pretty much everybody who has access to a TV should know about. The plate where the Onmyou regions are derived would be the Taikyoku. The dots in each region exist to emphasize there is darkness within light and light within darkness; states of contrast with an available base, one could say.
I wouldn't be surprised if the origins Araya describes are in someway based on the Rokujuushike to be honest.
Incidentally, the 64 in Araya's Hounouden Rokujuuyonsou (Shrine of Offering, the 64 tiers; for lack of a better way of saying it) refers to the same Rokujuushike from said Taikyokuzu.
聖堂教会 - Seidou Kyoukai
洗礼詠唱 - Senrei eishou
The sole miracle that is permitted to be learned in the Church. The purification/elevating of a wayward soul through the teachings of the Lord. A simple ritual (ten-count type) to send a ghost to its "throne". The theory of thaumaturgy with the most wide-spread theory, probably because this miracle has healed the hearts of many. Physical interference is somewhat weak, but has absolute power against spiritual bodies. Unfortunately, is not sufficient to send back/affect entities such as Servants.
ガンド
A Scandinavian curse. By pointing the index finger at the target to be
cursed, it causes the person's physical health to falter. Because the
target is aimed at carefully within one's field of vision, it's also
called Gandr Shots.
A powerful one is called a "Fin Shot" and applies direct damage. Rin's Gandr are more like bullets (Fin Shot level; well, actually more like Fin Gatling), given the concentration of Prana in each. One shot won't kill a person outright, but it should be able to take out a normal person or someone on the level of Shirou.
The Edelfelts are among the best users of Gandr.
ゲッシュ
A curse restricting a certain behavior. Requires the consent of the target, at least for Tohsaka Rin.
ルーン
Generally unpopular in the Association. Can also be used to set up
bounded barriers. Inscribing signs to actualize the meaning of the
words. This could also be done at a distance, for example, Touko making
the rune for Ansuz with flame and the flame rune be overlayed onto a
corpse. When the same is done against magi though, as they have Prana
directly spread out through their bodies, the long distance runic sign
will just be repulsed (the resistance mentioned in the circuit entry).
As a result, they're not good means of direct attack. If you want to
use a rune for an attack against a magus, you'd have to directly
inscribe it on him.
The crests of old Scandinavia and apparently circuits of their own?
A rune with an oblivion effect. An ability among one of the runes to
erase memory. In the modern era, not as useful as it was because of the
complex layers of relationships in society. One way of putting it,
concealing a phenomenon with another phenomenon is going to still leave
the second phenomenon visible. Not the actual name of the rune itself.
Bazett inscribes them (quickly enough for actual combat purposes) using
a special talon; probably meaning that just carving them won't be
enough.
ソウェル
Rune of fire.
アトゴウラ
Cu Chulainn's rune of death matches. Made up of Algiz, Nauthiz, Ansuz,
and Inguz. Retreat is forbidden to the one who writes it, the one who
sees it cannot withdraw.
Engraved on Bazett's gloves. Runes that harden the body. Ought to be enough to take off a person's head easily when used with Bazett's boxing. Er. Fighting style.
Can be inscribed on Bazett's legs. Enhances speed. Already high specs + this allow for high running speed.
Cu Chulainn's runes. Allows for temporary boosting of attack strength.
ケナズ
Runes for enhancing sight. Used by Bazett.
アンサズ
Rune Touko used to try to destroy a corpse possessed by a wraith. Didn't work at all. Drew the rune into the air using the flame from her cigarette which then overlapped itself on the corpse.
強化 - Kyouka
An elementary skill but a difficult one to master. Reinforcing the purpose of something's existence; the sharpness of a blade, the level of nutrition of food, the moeness of a maid (I don't think maids are moe personally), and so on. Reinforcing something vague isn't possible. As it is hard to pass one's own Prana inside living creatures, reinforcing another person is said to be one of the most difficult feats possible. Caster, on the other hand, is able to do this easily.
The base of all thaumaturgy is to send one's Prana into an object to elevate it, however, because of the degree of freedom in it, a clear form of execution doesn't exist. Hence, all-mighty reinforcers are few in number. The same as trying to add to an already perfected object. Failure would mean that the inserted Prana would be considered as poison to the object and thus be dispersed/rejected. To succeed, one has to understand the internal construction of the target and send the Prana into the open areas.
In other words, it's focusing Prana on a part of the body or object and enhancing it's effect and power, aka meaning. Reinforcing the eyes enhances vision and what not.
Rin, combined with the Tohsaka's traditional martial arts, is able to close a gap of several meters in an instant (probably 1 or 2 seconds), basically Servant-like speed (but not close enough to even be a threat to anyone but Caster, and that's only when caught off-guard).
変化 - Henge
The next step above reinforcement. Attaching an additional ability to an object, for instance, a flame effect to a knife.
火葬式典 - Kasou shikiten
An added effect used by Ciel. Spell sigils engraved on Ciel's Black Keys that allow them to burn once they pierce the target. Not used by many Executors because this is technically thaumaturgy. Bits of thaumaturgy taken from Roa's knowledge.
土葬式典 - Dosou shikiten
An added effect used by Ciel. Spell sigils engraved on Ciel's Black Keys that allow them to petrify the target once pierced. Not used by many Executors because this is technically thaumaturgy. Bits of thaumaturgy taken from Roa's knowledge.
風葬式典 - Fuusou shikiten
An added effect used by Ciel. Spell sigils engraved on Ciel's Black Keys that allow them to dehydrate the target once pierced. Not used by many Executors because this is technically thaumaturgy. Bits of thaumaturgy taken from Roa's knowledge. Fuusou generally refers to "natural" burials; in other words, not even bothering to bury the guy and letting nature take its work.
鳥葬式典 - Chousou shikiten
An added effect used by Ciel. Spell sigils engraved on Ciel's Black Keys that uh....end up bring crows at the target once pierced. Not used by many Executors because this is technically thaumaturgy. Bits of thaumaturgy taken from Roa's knowledge. Chousou or sky burials is the European term for a Tibetan ritual in which the body is chopped up and also exposed outside to be eaten primarily by vultures and other birds of prey.
投影 - Touei
The most difficult of the RAP trio. Also, the most useless in combat. Thaumaturgy where a mirror image of an original object is physically materialized through Prana. Normally, gradation air is used to project, as a substitute for a ritual, a "lost" object for only a few minutes within one's own time axis. Not efficient at all, under normal circumstances. Best thought of as a video rental where you only get the cover of the video and not the video itself, in these cases. Of course, that cover itself is close to the original physically.
It's generally a better idea to actually make the object rather than project it because duration is longer, reinforcement can be used on it, and Prana cost is cheaper overall. Called gradation because as the Prana composing the projected item quickly fades. Air is a reference to the fact the fact that the projected item is made out of nothing.
Something made of images will be recognized as being an "imaginary object" and will usually disappear right away, basically.
The actual process of forming Prana into a distinct form (like say a dagger) isn't that difficult, but it's ultimately just fluff that's shaped like a dagger which will disappear right away. With projection/gradation air, though, it is possible to have that empty video case look and have some of the same abilities as the original (the image is close to the original in a sense). In other words, it's not complete fluff.
Prana consumption is high and the object will disappear quickly, making this pretty much worthless in combat. For example, if one were to use 10 points of Prana to project a sword, the produced sword will have an ability of 3 or 4 at best since mental imagery is full of holes. Something that close to the original can't be made. In contrast, using 10 Prana to reinforce a sword will result in the sword's power increasing to 20 or 30, in addition to duration being much longer.
Preparation of the needed materials as well as the appropriate knowledge of whatever's being constructed in addition to the overlaying of one's own image on top of those materials is the normal way of stabilizing the projected item to get something close to the original. Rin originally planned on having Shirou use this method to make Zelretch.
For normal Fakers, "strengthening" of an already exiting object using "projection" is possible. However, as Shirou and Archer's weapons are being made through their Reality Marbles, they have to rely on their own images to make them entirely. They cannot "strengthen" their weapons.
See UBW entry for Shirou and Archer's version of Projection spells.
結界 - Kekkai
Terrain based defensive spells with a variety of effects that do not move. Essentially modification conducted on existing terrain or objects instead of something created from nothing. Normally border lines to separate two different worlds, the exterior and the internal. What's within it isn't the bounded barrier itself.
Once deployed, sigils are created throughout barriers which expands the area of effect and strength of it. Destruction of a sigil will only temporarily weaken the barrier as it will be repaired by the other ones after some time.....is what was said in the anime.
But looking back at the game prologue, it is possible to remove the sigil itself, as long as the technique used in making it isn't extremely advanced (like Blood Fort Andromeda); but for the most part, the Prana used to activate the barrier can be erased easily, but that's fixable by the creator by just simply feeding Prana back into the barrier.
The most difficult ones are barriers that cause onlookers to be unable to perceive what is within the barrier. Essentially works on a subconscious level (by using a rune stone). The problem is that the greater the barrier, the more likely it is that the Association will notice it. Users of these types are Touko and Araya. The ideal barrier is one that can't be detected by anyone. The most powerful ones, which border on magic, are those that work by having space itself act as a barrier. Other barriers alarm those inside of trespassers.
The general rule is that bounded barriers are invisible to those outside it. Visible barriers are considered to be the mark of a 3rd rate magus.
Whatever Touko used. A bounded barrier based around a rune stone. Used to prevent specters from entering Shiki's hospital room. But. That just made them take over a dead corpse so that they could enter her room.
Layers of barriers used to hide a fortress. Said to be invisible to an
extent that even fool nature. Because of these bounded barriers, the
fortress themselves will only appear to those invited.
Somewhat similar to the other worlds that fairies live in.
衛宮邸の結界 - Emiyatei no kekkai
Reacts to those breaking in with ill intent by ringing a bell. Very
good at detection but no offensive or defensive traits to it. Not
gaudy, but still finely made. Unlike the one around the Tohsaka
residence, one could feel the human quality of it.
全て遠き理想 - Subete tooki risou
The normal ability is healing injuries and preventing aging. Activation
as a Noble Phantasm causes it to come apart in hundreds of pieces and
completely protect its user from all forms of interference; a mobile
fortress. Shuts out all physical interference, transliners from
parallel worlds, and multidimensional (multiplanar; as far as the 6th)
contact; including all of the five magics. A Noble Phantasm on the
level of magic. The greatest protection in the world.
Incidentally, it can't reflect energy bolts like in the anime. Hell it didn't even do that in the game when Ea was used against Avalon in the real last battle.
他者封印・鮮血神殿 - Tasha fuuin senketsu shinden
Bounded barrier that melts the humans inside into blood that is
absorbed by the user. Normally meant for extracting Prana. Looks like a
gigantic red eye, although it can't be seen by those outside the
barrier. As using it once will severely damage the leylines of the
area, it can't be used continuously on the same land.
自己封印・暗黒神殿 - Jiko fuuin ankoku shinden
The eye-blinds Rider uses to seal her mystic eyes. Locks the target's
mind (or her eyes) within a world/barrier (her own mind). Can be used
to hold the target in place and prevent it from attacking.
As Ryuudouji itself is an outstanding spiritual land, it's among the greatest of summoning spots and once past the kekkai, it's an all too convenient environment for Servants, thus, Ryuudouji is fit for maintaining the inhuman and is the reason why Caster was able to avert destruction.
As closing off the temple through the Kekkai would result in the leylines itself to halt, it's necessary to at least keep one path open for it to function as a leyline focal point. For that reason, the one place where the Kekkai doesn't cover is the front gate and the path leading to it.
六道境界 - Rokudou Kyoukai
Three layers of kekkai layered on top of each other so as to cover the
ground and the air that freeze movement on those who come in contact
with them.. While kekkai are stationary, these ones move along with
Araya. The names are: Fugu, Kongou, Dakatsu, Taiten, Chougyou (a
misprint of Choukyou?), Ouken;
不倶、金剛、蛇蝎、戴天、頂経、王顕. The outermost kekkai is Fugu.
Incidentally, Rokudou is a Buddhist/Hindu term for the 6 different worlds of resurrection: The World of Devas or Gods; The World of Asuras, Demigods, Titans, Fighting Demons; The World of Humans; The World of Animals; The World of Hungry Ghosts; The World of Hell. Sounds more and more like these would fall under the non-Association systems.
The barriers will take damage and crumble over time (if say he was put in a game). Remaking them does take time.
Also prevents his aura from being detected.
Incidentally, chanting Dakatsu seemed to cause his severed right arm to move on its own and leap at Shiki.
固有結界 - Koyuu Kekkai
Innate Bounded Barrier. Originally the alien \"common sense\" possessed by the creatures called demons. Primarily a power that only demons and elementals possess. However, some of the greatest of magi have attained it through years and years of research.
A variation of Marble Phantasms. A barrier that materializes the user's internal world and invades reality through thaumaturgical theory or rather the world egg. The turning over of the world diagram inscribed on the soul. The closest thaumaturgy to magic and among the forbidden of the forbidden in the Association.
A similar and disimilar method of "world creation" as that of Marble Phantasms. Reality Marbles can force all things to obey their rules. Unlike Marble Phantasms, it is limited to one pattern. As just one aspect is put into form, the user cannot add his own will into the form of the barrier. On the other hand, as it can affect things that are not of nature, it can be said to surpass Marble Phantasms. However, should anything other than extensions of nature (elementals) create an alien world, the world itself will crush that other world. As a result, a tremendous amount of energy is required to maintain it, meaning that one Reality Marble can only function for a few minutes. On the other hand, Nrvnqsr is using his Reality Marble within himself which allows him to avoid adjustment by the world.
水晶渓谷 - Suishou keikoku
ORT's Reality Marble. Also referred to as an Innate Bounded World.
Invasion by a horrifying but beautiful landscape.
While some magi and the 27 Ancestors control internal worlds called
"Reality Marbles", the one that ORT has is on a completely different
level.
ORT is a "visitor from another planet".
By just him (?) being there, the Earth is changing to the environment he lived in. That is, the rewriting of physical laws, a leaking of this "alien order".
If man destroys the planet, then ORT is an invader that paints the earth world into an alien planet. Just movement by ORT will cause the trees around him to crystallize, forming a crystal valley (spider web).
無限の剣製 - Mugen no kensei
Shirou and Archer's Reality Marble.
Treated like a Noble Phantasm, but to be accurate, it's thaumaturgy
(Reality Marble) that's free from penalties. In this Reality Marble,
the substances needed to form all swords are present. Just by looking
at the original, it is possible to replicate it. However, the
replicated weapon is lowered by one rank. Defensive armaments are
possible but the normal projection cost is two to three times the
regular amount of Prana used in making swords. A weapon replicated once
is recorded in the barrier and can be made without activating the
Reality Marble using tracing thaumaturgy. Against a normal opponent,
it's only an ability that's somewhat troublesome, but it's the ultimate
counter against a certain king of heroes. The substances involved in
the creation of Ea are probably not inside it. Creation of Excalibur is
possible, but not a perfect version of it. It's also likely that using
its energy blast would result in him using up all of his Prana, hence
it would be a suicide attack for him, which is why he never traces it
even just as a normal weapon; his personally developed close-combat
technique with his twin swords is better suited for him and Shirou
(although raw power might be less).
The applied use of UBW without expanding the Reality Marble itself are both Shirou and Archer's Reinforcement and Tracing.
Note that (in regards to weapons destroyed or used within UBW) there is a continuous expenditure of Prana from RM formation to sustain it, however, the weapons already prepared at formation of bounded barrier do not cost Prana. However, (while expanded) remaking a destroyed weapon or making a new weapon that hadn't been present at expansion of UBW will cost an extremely large amount of Prana.
投影(トレース版)
Materialized projection through the reenactment (or understanding and tracing) of creation ideology, base core, composite materials, design technique, possession experience, and accumulation of years. Not the physical recreation of just a sword, but its soul itself, in other words.
Shirou's variation of gradation air. Also includes reinforcement technically. The latter functions like regular reinforcement (in that it uses an already existing object instead of creating a new one), with a lower success rate. Basically, it's mentally harder to improve upon an already completed object, or so he says. Whenever he starts spell casting, he mentally thinks of either the words synchronization or projection while actually saying out loud "trace on". In other words, either he traces over an existing object or traces an object from his internal world onto the physical world.
Unlike normal projection, he recreates objects not just from scratch using a schematic diagram, but also the ideology behind its creation as well as its history and experience. Recreating the weapon as if it had a life of its own, in a sense. Despite that, the weapons that Archer has the most experience and is best suited to using are Kanshou and Bakuya, which is why Shirou used them during one of the possible fights against Black Saber and also actually managed to defeat her (but mainly because Excalibur couldn't be used underground).
Also unlike normal projection, it's impossible for them to project an image over already existing materials to form it. This is the other reason why Azoth, which was meant to be used as the base for the recreated Zelretch, wasn't used by Shirou when he formed it. Just having the knowledge of how to make Zelretch and the base product (Azoth) to overlay that image on won't work. Both of them have to see that sword with their own eyes.
Weapons are actually projected from his internal world, Unlimited Blade Works. Mentally, tracing is preparing and loading a bullet from Unlimited Blade Works (hence multiple weapons can be stored at once). Projection is the actual firing mechanism. At higher proficiency, multiple "bullets" (in the form of weapons or a multi-action skill coming from a single weapon) can be loaded in advance. Also, read this.
Making a fake weapon but having its original master use it is one way for the weapon to become "real", is one possible way of thinking about it.
The Reality Marble of the Crimson Moon. Produces "seeds" (the True Ancestors) in which the Crimson Moon embeds itself in.
獣王の巣
Nrvnqsr's Reality Marble. Nrvnqsr has it expanded within his own body
and not on the outer world, hence it's always active - the world does
not move to crush it.
Although, apparently his very existence still has massive energy
requirements - demonstrated by Nrvnqsr's need to replenish himself (by
eating an passing schoolgirl) after getting partially torn apart by
Arc. In that regard, getting a portion of his beasts killed (and not even in one instant) should use up some energy.
創世の土
An application of Nrvnqsr's Reality Marble/beasts to restrain and take in a target. Destruction of it would be like destroying a continent, or rather world. Gained thanks to Roa, who taught Nrvnqsr a technique that was lost from the age of gods.
The original Einnashe's Reality Marble. Supposedly specialized towards hypnosis that had even affected Arcueid.
パレード
Fina-Blood Svelten's Reality Marble. Was responsible for the fall of Van Fem's 5th Castle, Motley.
Wallachia's Reality Marble. Allows for the actualization of the rumors and fears of a region.
The black tornado looking thing that's really compressed malignant information. A whirl of information enough to have a physical effect, but regardless of whether it is virtual, the operation and management of it is the proof of the Night of Wallachia's 27 Ancestorhood. Also the subtitle of the first MELTYBLOOD. A metaphor on the tragedy caused by Tatari. Also as Wallachia consumes the blood of humans in such massive quantities, he's also called a blood drinker.
悪性情報 - Akusei jouhou
The conditions needed for Tatari to occur; the collective information
being circulated within a closed community. Makes use of anonymous
charges, improbable evidence, such trends with superb changes of
permeating in the population, etc. in order to develop.
Will change into various forms depending on the circumstances, but in
the center core of all of that, there is "nothing". The reason why
Tatari is called unknown is because of this.
The "bad news" that the night of Wallachia uses and the "terror news"
that vampire Sion uses were actualized through Prana. One means of
using further advanced malignant information is in fabricating and
controlling malignant copies.
ネバーモア
Gransurg Blackmore's Reality Marble. While Gransurg had also served the Crimson Moon after the 27 broke off from the True Ancestors, he became an independent Dead Apostle after the evaporation of the Crimson Moon by Zelretch. Gransurg attacked the castle of the 16th Ancestor and destroyed that entire clan, and from thereon took on the name Blackmore. Since he had been recognized as one of the 27th while the Crimson Moon was still alive, the other Ancestors recognized his succession, and so Blackmore finally received a title appropriate to his natural power. The name of the Reality Marble used in this assault was Nevermore. A canopy of death wings covering the sky; a "world of death" of absolute darkness swallowing even the moon and stars.
"-Be careful, gentlemen.
The birds dancing in my sky are vicious only to the dead-"
Declaring this, Blackmore destroyed one Ancestor and his entire faction.
Without one drop of blood, and any damage being dealt to the castle
walls, garden, and curtains, over a hundred vampires were slaughtered.
オーバーロード
Roa's Reality Marble. Causes the application of Square on all of his spells.
スクウェア
Amplifies the strength of a spell. A derivative of Roa's Numerology spells.
枯渇庭園 - Kokatsu teien
Yumizuka Satsuki's Reality Marble. As the name says, rapidly drains the Prana of the space it's expanded in. Similar to Akiha's Ryakudatsu, but Depletion Garden is affecting the world itself (as opposed to the target). Further, the withered Prana doesn't return to the user, Satsuki, but just dissipitates. A terrain type effect that could be said to be the natural enemy of beings such as those magi needing Prana for attacks or elementals needing Prana to live. On the other hand, against those organisms that are becoming removed from the world (those humans who don't really use the Prana in the atmosphere) has dramatically no effect.
千年城ブリュンスタッド
A castle created by the most powerful True Ancestor ever through the
Marble Phantasm ability and not the original creation of Arcueid.
The first master of Brunestud has already been annihilated, but since
then, those True Ancestors able to form it were treated as the royalty.
True Ancestors, beings that have no concept of social stratification,
call her the princess for this reason.
Existing in the location closest to the moon, not topographically, but where the world receives the most influence of the moon. Even without Arcueid around, the castle is still seemingly in existence, but without "life". To the True Ancestors, the castle was probably their absolute protection.
Also described in Tokuhon as being a Reality Marble. Further, going by the hanafuda game in hollow ataraxia, inheritence of a Reality Marble IS possible. A Reality Marble that's really the Crimson Moon's, manifested by using the Marble Phantasm ability?
人形 - Ningyou
人形遣い - Ningyou tsukai
Touko, Alba, Van Fem, Master of Assassin in Heaven's Feel 3. Philosophy is that a magus doesn't have to be strong. He just has to make the strongest creation.
自動人形 - Jidou ningyou
Automated puppets. Generally controlled by the puppet master like they were his own limbs. However, the puppet master him or herself aren't usually going to be geared for fighting directly.
French-type dolls used by Heaven's Feel 3 Assassin Master. Armed with deadly precision killing weapons.
青子人形・蜘蛛形態
Eh well. I guess you can imagine what it is. Used by Touko. Can also be self-destructed.
青子人形・鴉形態
I guess you can imagine what this is too. Used by Touko. Can also be self-destructed.
魔城
Seven great golems created by Van Fem, the greatest of the puppet masters. The 5th one was destroyed.
