Caster vs. Ciel
Setting for Fate/stay night. Probably in western Honshuu, around the
Kobe area (if not Kobe itself). Known for its long winters. Close to an
airport.
DDD setting. Located in western Japan.
A national hospital and the one and the ultimate treatment center for
those with Agonist Disorder. Those with Agonist Disorders are
transported to this hospital after being taken into custody by the
government.
Blocked off by a concrete wall, even at the 10 meter tall glass
entrance of the hospital. Incoming and outgoing patients come and go by
helicopter. Said to be located in western Japan and is some 3 hours
away from Shikura by helicopter/car.
Doesn't take outpatients; if you come there, you're going to be staying
there for a while. In that sense, it's more like an asylum. Made up of
a large compound and 5 wards (A, B, C, D specifically for those with A
Disorder) and relatively small number of staff in comparison to the
size (only in the hundreds).
Patients in each ward are allowed to move only to the adjacent wards and only according to allotted free time.
Those in Ward A are those with tumors and no new parts (abilities) or those normal people who just happened to be harmed by those with Agonist Disorder and bear some after-effects. Basically the same as regular hospital life, excluding a limit to free time and lack of outcoming patients. Three examinations a day and optional communication with other patients. Around some 20 A ward patients.
Ward B has the most number of patients. Mainly those who have become comparatively mentally stabilized and whose treatment is just barely realistically possible. Basically the people who probably will be allowed to get surgery. Treatment is basically at a level where excision of tumor = won't die. Whether surgery is commenced with depends on whether an accurate surgical method is discovered. Problem being however that the symptoms are different so research into that field to develop a generally effective practice is slow.
Ward C are where those who are popularly called "demon possessed" reside, of course, their conditions have stabilized. Oddly enough, they're less dangerous than those in Ward B since these ones have been emotionally shattered and will not leave their wards. Those allowed free action have already stabilized so they won't go violent; but the result is that it looks like a prison-like abandoned ward since patients whose bodies have mutated won't leaving their rooms, even if they are emotionally peaceful.
Ward D can best be described as being abandoned, if Ward C were to be described to be a prison. Security (equipped openly with submachine guns) and doctors can only be found in the entrance. Left dark since many of the patients are fearful of light. Basically made up of those patients in the terminal stage. Treatment, excission are impossible. Matured bodies. Around 30 people that are alive in there and about 40 bodies are "currently in" the room. A steel corridor maze complete with layers and layers of steel gates.
Tsukihime setting.
Closed off compared to the Association. Generally does not interfere
unless their territory is encroached on. Post-reactive rather than
pre-reactive. Not on good terms with the Association. Essentially a you
don't bother me, I don't bother you type of relationship. Logistically,
it would take 6 days for one group of enforcers from the Association to
arrive and two additional days to negotiate with this organization to
get clearance for landing.
Financial group headed by the Saeki half-blood line. Taken over by Tohno Makihisa following the death of the Saeki head.
An organization that takes in orphans and trains them in just one technique to be used as emotionless assassins. Training facility, or "house" as Kuzuki calls it, is a 10-square-meter bloc of forest located in the mountains. The actual building of the people making use of them is separated from the forest and pure white, unlike the rumors going around of it being a hell populated by Oni. Another separate building is used for disposal purposes. Children are given some degree of education in the event that outsiders may stumble onto them. Kuzuki Souichirou was a "product" of this organization. What makes this organization different from others is that their products are meant to be one-use disposable goods. The assassin is expected to kill himself after completing the mission. Those children who had their doubts about their training "disappeared". Defective products taken apart while still alive because they didn't do as they were told, examples made of those that embarrassed the adults and have their brains moved into animals, water tanks stuffed with children to serve as a diversion. The people in charge value money; a killer they invested 20,000,000 yen (the amount spent on raising and training Kuzuki) on is expected to do a 20,000,000 yen job and then drop dead. No matter how gifted the product might be, they don't care. Mass production at its worst.
The self-defensive group created by those who seek to learn
thaumaturgy, without concern for nationality or genre for the purpose
of controlling, concealing, and developing thaumaturgy. At least, just
on paper.
As an organization concerned strictly with the concealment and
development of thaumaturgy, they are in possession of research bodies
for the further development and laws for the prevention of crimes done
through thaumaturgy. While their emphasis is on the pursuit of
knowledge, the Association also has the military might to protect
itself against those organizations that threaten them, be it the
Church, other magi conclaves, and otherworldly forces seeking to punish
mankind for breaking into areas best left untouched.
Of course, while there are laws governing the use of thaumaturgy, the Association itself isn't concerned with whatever crimes those under its roof may commit. Instead, their primary concern is the prevention of the public discovering their existence. In other words, as long as the maniac doesn't let out the existence of thaumaturgy by blunder, the Association will not move to punish him.
Currently, broken up into three main branches that have gradually drifted apart from each other since the Clock Tower became the headquarters of the Association.
The Wandering Tomb. A plurality of associations spread throughout
northern Europe. The "original Association". Nrvnqsr had come from the
Sea of Estray. The following may be part of the Sea of Estray circle or
less organizations within the greater body of the Mage Association.
A part of the Sea of Estray chain? An organization affiliated with the Clock Tower. Alba was supposed to be its next director.
A part of the Sea of Estray chain? Another group that encourages the study of alchemy. Classical alchemists. On VERY bad terms with Atlas.
A part of the Sea of Estray chain? An organization with the original runic scripts.
The darker side of one of the large "universal" religions, the largest organization in the world, and the greatest enemy of those that have fallen outside of the category of "human".
Those who preach the words of God do not recognize those who go against his teachings.
"Heretics" are not dealt with on the public side of the religion, but there were those fanatics that viciously rejected them.
The term for the colossal department of these "inquisitors" is what is called the Sacred Church, an organization made up of the demon exterminating Executors and exist only for the sole function of eradicating all heretics and properly controlling those mysteries that go beyond human understanding.
It goes without saying that the relations of the Sacred Church and the Association, another organization known for concealing thaumaturgy, are dismal. Until now, both sides had crossed blades with each other time and time again. However, a treaty has been signed currently and a transient end to hostilities is being advocated. On the other hand, that's more a less an end to "open" hostilities.
Of course, their greatest enemy are the so-called "vampires" and on occasion, the Church has been known to cooperate with the Association.
The forces at disposal of the Sacred Church are the Executors (elite commandos), the Chivalric Orders (the knights of each separate church), and the Burial Agency (the monsters that the headquarters of the organization keeps hidden).
The heretic inquisitors of the Sacred Church. Not demon exorcists, but demon killers.
Their God is the one absolute; that which is supreme and that which is all. The Holy Spirit; the creator of a perfect world.
It was impossible for Him to allow the existence of the demonic to violate His own children, to defile the world He created.
But it is a fact that the demonic do exist, corrupting man and defiling the world. That which ought not be, taints the world of God.
And so, they reasoned as such. That is. Even these corruptors of man, these demons, are a vital part of the world the Lord constructed; one of His precious creations. In their doctrine, demons are the messengers of heaven. If it is the work of the holy to strengthen the goodness of man, then what strengthens the evil of man is the demonic; that is all there is to it. These are the messengers of heaven. A priest teaching the words of God has no right to destroy them. But.
Let it be said again. Demons exist and defile man and the land, playing out miserable tragedies and comedies beyond the reasoning of man.
The calculations of heaven had sometimes made man mistake this as the powerlessness of heaven. They sought a miracle from their Lord in the incomprehendable work of the demonic.
And such, exceptions were born. Followers that did not teach the words of the Lord, but act as the representatives of God, his Executors, despite being mere mortals.
Trials that should have only been watched. Heretics that should have only been denied. Those who arm themselves with the 8th sacrament, that should not have even existed; the demonry extermating organization established by the 120th Cardinal.
They dispel the demonic and hunt what does not exist not in the teachings of their Lord. Those who hunt that which is not in their doctrine can not be held back by doctrine. This in short, the permit to stray away from the rules of their religion. The one thing to be protected: the name of the All Mighty. And to do that, they will annihilate even his own demonic creations. That is the one point that distinguishes them from exorcists.
Different types exist among them: those specialized and geared for magus hunting, demon killing, or vampire slaying and whatnot.
A group of executors within the Sacred Church even more expert for inquisitions. The experts of the experts. Not exorcists, but demon killers.
A body operating entirely on ability; anyone who has power and will wipe out those things that are "inconvenient" for the Church can become a member. Faith is secondary. The department requires power only for the eradication of heretics.... They'll also baptize you and give you some nice perks if you join, or so they say.
Made up of 7 members including Narbareck and 1 reserve member for a total
of 8. Ranges from a guy that has a preference for using sacrilegious
(just in public!) thaumaturgy, another one who makes slaves out of the
heretics he's captured, to a modern weapons geek, a freak that gets
turned on by killing, and a whole bunch of wonderful entertaining
fellows. Each will work alone and will not cooperate with other similar
foreign organizations.
1. Ciel - #7. The only one among them that uses small arms. Main reasons for being selected as a member were immortality and thaumaturgy; physical skills are also superb, however, there's only so much that can be done with pure physical martial arts, hence not adequate to deal with threats requiring anti-fortress counter measures. Not nearly as attractive anymore without immortality; but still tough enough to make killing difficult - best way of ensuring death is destruction of the brain - ie the part of the body that control circuits.
2. Narbareck - #1? Loves killing; probably the aforementioned person that gets turned on by killing. Shut (a form of incarcerating her really) in the executive room of the agency for that same reason. The big gun holding the reigns of the freak squad, the Burial Agency. Infamy has reached even the Association. While quite a young woman, this is a monster that's already captured 3 of the 27 Ancestors.
3. Merem Solomon - #5. One of the 27 Ancestors. He who has the name of other name of Crown. A collector of treasures from all ages all around the world. Really joined the agency because he wanted to be near the treasures that the Church sealed. Originally a divine child (planet terminal) that could communicate with animals and materialize the wishes of others. His arms and legs were wrenched off and was worshiped, preventing him from ever leaving the village. Severing his limbs was partially due to the their religious belief that a divine child must not have the form of a mortal, and simply, to prevent such a convenient tool from running away. Circumstances are similar to Angra Mainyu, however, unlike Angra, Merem really was a [http://fuyuki.pbwiki.com/Concept#Breathing]|divine child]. Merem would have been destined to end his life as the plaything of the villagers, but he was then noticed by coincidence by the Crimson Moon. Thinking in amusement of "the power to put into form the wishes of man", he declared to the villagers that at dawn, he would slaughter all of them. "Kill me with your wishes if you wish to live," he said, to start the game.
The villagers' wishes to "not die" were ugly and powerful. Without caring about the burden on the one executing this, the villagers imagined "convenient divine beasts" one after another, challenging the Crimson Moon.
Needless to say, there was no way those kinds of things would match up to the Crimson Moon.
There was no end to the wish of the villagers, but just some time until dawn would come, Merem reached his limit and died. The remaining villagers died while cursing the name of Merem and the Crimson Moon.
...Afterwards.
When the sun rose onto the horizon, the Crimson Moon revived Merem as an Apostle.
"Amusing; you may live as you wish. You have drawn many of what would replace your arms and legs, have you not? The wishes they were based on were grotesque, but the aspects made by you were masterpieces. With such idols, I feel it fitting for them to bear your limbs."
Enchanted by the words of the Crimson Moon, Merem imagined 4 idols from the temple built by the religion of the villagers, added to them the power to be his limbs on to them, and for the first time, stood on the ground.
Since then, he bore feelings towards the Crimson Moon similar to adoration, and became a Dead Apostle vowing allegiance to only the Crimson Moon - Brunestud.
He had hid himself after the 27 Ancestors broke off from the True Ancestors and the collapse of the Crimson Moon, but for reasons unknown, he affiliated himself with their enemy, the Sacred Church.
4. Mr. Dawn - #6 (tentative). An exorcist of the Sacred Church, a driver using a 30-ton class trailer as transportation, and Mr. Useless of the Buriers. No Executor sacraments, abnormal abilities, nor any knowledge of thaumaturgy. When a partner is recruited, both of them will officially become #6. Main role (at least in the case of the trip to Aylesbury in Tsukihime 2) is to transport another exorcist that is "somewhat prone to become unethical". Dawn has no means of attack or self defense, so the exorcist work is entirely being done by the "other "exorcist" he's transporting. Face may seem dangerous, but he's the mild and charming sort. Looks not so much like an exorcist but a school teacher. Of course, according to him, he doesn't have the qualifications to teach others, so, for him, apparently it should be happiness for anybody to live it the calm, easygoing way by oneself. A quiet pacifist. While agreeing to go to the Aylesbury war zone, he himself isn't carrying weapons even for his own self defense. Uncomfortable with blood and violence, and even horror movies. Since he tends to panic and get in the way the moment he sees a slaughter scene caused by heretics, he's feared by the Executors as "the absolute #1 person we ever want to be with on a mission." Originally the V&V Industry Sixth R&D Division Manager. An elite among elites as an engineer, but due to a certain incident, he resigned from V&V and was scouted by the Burial Agency Director Narbareck because of his accomplishment in solving that incident (in said incident, he lost the ability to recognize his own name - Dawn is not his true name). Then again, mentally, as a believer he's just somewhat below the average. Faith is of the level where he lets the Bible sleep in the drawer of a desk and that hasn't changed since that incident. A valuable type of exorcist, and currently, under one particular condition, it's said that there are no other exorcists that could replace him. According to the revelations of the prophecy of the Virgin Mary, in his life time, he will perform 3 exorcisms. The one man in the Church that exorcised a fully matured demon from a person.
The privileges they gained are powerful and at times they'll go against the wishes of the Church to eliminate heretics. Be it a bishop, as long as he has a demon inside of him, they'll skewer him in a flash. There are no times when their actions are not accorded ex-post-facto approval. Of course it's understandable why this agency is being whispered to be heresy within the Church. Trouble-makers, to put it simply.
El Nahat is also "cooperating" with the agency; forcefully it seems but
there might be some other motives involved, although text seems to
indicate that he's being stored and used in the same sense as an item
would. Special ability of almost always purging an opponent in a one on
one battle, but would also result in destruction of one's on body.
Regeneration from that supposed takes some tens of years; currently
"sealed". His "Book of the Stomach World" is being kept as an
anti-Apostle trump card of the agency.
According to Tsukihime Lab:
1. Sealed in a prison of mirrors; he himself or his powers may have some relation to doppelgangers.
2. "Book of the Stomach World", which is made from his stomach, is said
to act as a summoning terminal for his main body. Can be carried and
used in battle by #1 or #2 in the agency.
Organization was founded by the original Roa and entrusted to the Narbareck of that era under the name of the Burial Classroom.
The main military body of each church. The knights. One of the few groups that still use halberds, but use of it is dying out.
The abbey Caren Hortensia was admitted to. Unlike the others in the abbey, Caren was permitted to leave on errands pertaining to exorcising. This is mainly just a normal abbey, btw.
Site of the ritual of Tsukihime 2. A village located in England.
The White Wing Lord. One of the 6 crowns and one of the oldest of the
Apostles. #17 of the 27 Ancestors. One who turned from a magus into a
vampire and the first servant of the Crimson Moon.
An archetypical vampire and the present king of the Apostles. The
Apostle representing the 27 Ancestors and has the greatest political
voice if only in form.
The Dead Apostle that proposed the True Ancestor hunt and the man who created the cause of Nrvnqsr's death in the Far East.
Despises the ancient reigning True Ancestors, but shows deference to the one and absolute True Apostle, Brunestud. However....
Home of Gransurg Blackmore.
The Black Wing Lord. A Dead Apostle Ancestor living in Austria. True name unknown. Destroyed his birthplace and name at the end of many long years. Gransurg, Blackmore, both are nothing more than nicknames that came from what he is.
A social and great vampire that has many minions and that would bring to any great ritual....Though, he's hopelessly alienated from the other Ancestors. Those humans bitten by a vampire and having blood sent in become vampires. But in Blackmore's case, those humans who have had their blood sucked all mutate into monsters with bird heads and wings. The other Ancestors look down on Blackmore because he doesn't hold a human-like form and because of the lack of grace of his birdman chimera minions. (Though in Blackmore's words, the other Apostles are the ones lacking in grace the moment they retain their human appearance.)
The title of Black Wing Lord came from sarcasm and is meant to put him in contrast him with the White Wing Lord, the current King of the Apostles.
A black winged beast master, that's close yet far from the first lofty emperor of the white wing.....would be the treatment of Blackmore in the world of the Apostles.
On the other hand, as he is an Apostle having ability and history equal to the White Wing Lord, the only ones who can get away with making sarcastic remarks face to face with him would be only the top-class of the 27 Ancestors.
Originally a magus that had seen birds as holy creatures. Adored the form and internal composition of birds and praised that they themselves were the kings of this star. For their sake, he lived to build them a sky even easier to live in. In the world of the magi, birds were treated as "those who carry the souls after death". Despite how eccentric his ideas may be, Gransurg, who based his thaumaturgical system on birds, was an excellent soul carrier.
However. That eccentricity was first spotted by the Crimson Moon. Gransurg was challenged to battle out of amusement and was defeated.
Gransurg, whose thaumaturgy was average and had no unique blood or any other factors to make him stand out was easily killed...or would have been killed, but he was saved by a last minute coincidence.
The Crimson Moon allowed that coincidence to be and let Gransurg go without using him as a blood bag, but commanded to him to be his personal magus from hereon.
Gransurg, who as a man, believed in the decorum of the broken, pledged
sincere loyalty to the Crimson Moon, and chose to move on his own path
towards becoming a Dead Apostle. He became a vampire at the culmination
of his arcane research.
"If I am to serve my Lord, I shall take on an fitting appearance". And
thus, he gave himself the form of a bird. Back when he had served the
Crimson Moon, he was more or less his familiar rather than an Apostle,
and had worked very diligently for the sake of the Crimson Moon.
He had continued to serve the Crimson Moon after the 27 Ancestors broke from the True Ancestors, but when the Crimson Moon was evaporated by Zelretch, he became independent as an Apostle, taking the position of 16 from an Ancestor he destroyed.
Gransurg does not like conflict. If he ever produces a war zone, it will only be to correct those Apostles that have forgotten the teachings of their "Lord", or to follow the wishes of that "Lord". Therefore, no matter how much he may hate another Apostle, he won't fight them.
While Merem cooperates with the Church, Gransurg does the same with the Association. Also, in the top class of the monsters appearing in Tsukihime 2.
Not on good terms with the Association. One of Rin's options on places
to run away to if deemed guilty during her trial in London. Curses,
witchcraft, and the like are much more advanced than what the
Association's.
Source of the system used in Japan. Not on good terms with the Association.
Wiped out by a counter-force. Probably Atlantis.
Home of ORT. Also, one of the few places with treasures that Arcueid hasn't yet built up resistence too.
Home of Valery Fernand Vandelstam, #14 of the 27 Ancestors. Better
known as Van Fem, the Puppet Master, Dark Lord of the Business World.
Creator of the 7 Great Golems and one of the 3 oldest Apostles. A odd
fellow (even among the 27) that had interest in human society and thus
took a shot at growing his power base without doing things the vampire
way since the end of the World War I. Set up a building in Monte Carlo
and takes challenges once a week on his casino boat. Should normally be
participating in the Aylesbury ritual but apparently he's been putting
off his responsibilities because he's having too much fun on his casino
boat. Doesn't get along with the White Wing Lord as he's too old
fashioned.
Future target of Tatari 30 years later.
