聖杯戦争
The name of the ritual surrounding the Fuyuki Grail War. The only sort of competition for a Holy Grail where Heroic Spirits are summoned (meaning there simply are NO other grail wars outside of Fuyuki with Heroic Spirits).

  • Zolken Machiri, Lizleihi Justica von Einzbern, Tohsaka Nagato, and Kishua Zelretch Schweinorg are present for the construction of the Greater Grail.
  • Nagato's daughter is said to have played a bigger role in the construction of the Greater Grail than her father.
  • Justica becomes the core of the Greater Grail. Without her, the Grail would be nothing more than a wish granterer.
  • Power struggle breaks out after the summoning of the Heroic Spirits.
  • Afterwards, Zolken Machiri becomes a vampire to continue being a part of the ritual.

  • Association + Church mediation.
  • Kotomine Risei appointed as the Manager.
  • Avenger is summoned by the Einzbern. However, the summoned Avenger had no features, personality, or Noble Phantasms and is defeated on the 4th day.
  • The Edelfelt sisters participate, but turn on each other which results in the younger sister 'dying' (probably attacked by Tohsaka during one of their fights) while the other one escapes and vows to never have anything to do with Japan again. Also likely that the younger sister really did survive and married the head of the Tohsakas at that time. Really, really, didn't get along with the Tohsaka family (according to Rin, were scared shitless of the Tohsakas). The rights to the mansions built by the Edelfelts are given to the Association.
  • A puppet-master also participates.

  • Kotomine Risei appointed as the Manager.
  • Kiritsugu summons Saber using Avalon. His aptitude as a Master was normal but he was an excellent magus killer. Kiritsugu only talks to Saber on his own initiative around 3 times. Furthermore, both of them worked independently of each other.
  • Church intervention on due to wanton violence caused by one of the Masters. Shortly afterwards, Kotomine Risei died do to unforeseen troubles while the local magi house he supported was also defeated. Tohsaka Tokiomi is backstabbed by Kotomine Kirei. The family Risei was supporting was probably Tohsaka.
  • Iskandar, following a battle with Saber, is defeated by Gilgamesh.
  • Holy Grail is destroyed by Excalibur.
  • Preliminary plotline had a shield-using Servant participating (and remaining until the 5th war), but that setting was probably removed later on. Originally one of the possible heroines back in the early stages of Fate/stay night. Probably Telamonian Ajax, the true user of Rho Aias.
  • According to Rin, all Servants in this ritual fell under the conventional classes.
  • Zouken (formerly known as Zolken) retrieves the fragments of the destroyed Holy Grail and discovers that the Grail has been tainted. He takes the fragments, modifies them, and implants them in Sakura.

  • The lesser Grail is destroyed.
  • Lord El-Melloi II dismantles the holy grail system of Fuyuki after the game in the Fate and UBW routes, while in HF normal, the Greater Holy Grail was actually destroyed. In HF true, the gate was closed for good by Ilya; the whole cavern itself was coming apart because of Rin's Zelretch. In HA, the running base is that Greater Holy Grail collapsed.
  • The Einzbern stop making Grails.
  • There are no more Heaven's Feels after this one.
    		• Ryuudouji / Ten no Sakazuki

    • Typical duration of each war is 14 days. After that, the period for being able to stabilize a gate ends and the war is over.
    • Selection of Masters is handled by the Greater Grail (the system that manages the Heaven's Feel), not the Lesser Grail.
    • Four different gates used. Ryuudouji, Tohsaka residence, Kotomine Church, burned field. Cycle is repeated.
    • Normally occurs in cycles of 60 years. However, the 5th began after 10 years from the previous war. Probably due to the influence of Angra Mainyu.
    • Presence of a Master and a Servant with a physical pathway in addition to the normal leylines between Masters and Servants during one of the rituals. Allows for the Master to have some degree of pseudo immortality, but only as long as the Servant is still alive.
    • All previous Berserkers and their Masters lost miserably, not due to being overmatched, but due to inability to effectively control mad enhancement, which led to being run dry of magic energy. In other words, the power requirements were too much for the Masters to handle.
    • Many other Masters and Servants of the previous wars realized that they were tricked by the 3 families. Since the benefits of winning were still the same, nothing changed.
    • Kotomine has met Zouken before the events in Fate/stay night. Whether he met him during the 4th is unknown.
    • Kotomine should still have been an Executor during the 4th.
    • Zouken has never directly entered the ritual until the Heaven's Feel route in Fate/stay night.
    • Six generations of Tohsakas and Matous since the beginning of the ritual.
    • In hollow ataraxia, Caren fulfills the role of being Gilgamesh and Lancer's Master.
    • Kotomine and Kiritsugu have never met or talked to each other in person prior to the final death match in Heaven's Feel 4. However, Kiritsugu recognized Kotomine as being the most dangerous of the other Masters from the start and Kotomine knew about Kiritsugu well enough to be envious of him.
